Agenda: Previous meeting minutes were read and approved
Kathleen Brady spoke in depth about a few fine points, specifically about CKD stages 3-5. The GFR numbers associated with the specific stages as Stage 1 >90, Stage 2 60-89 as normal, stage 3 30-59 get in to see a Renal Nurse, Stage 4 15-29 and Stage 5 <15 meaning not yet on dialysis, but experiencing the symptoms associated with it. It is imperative we understand these readings. Her information was very specific pertaining to what to expect from your visits, your labs and their meanings. She categorized the GFR readings by Creatinine, Bun, Age, Gender and Ethnicity, and how each effected the numbers. She further broke each stage down so that we could further understand exactly what these numbers meant.
We also spoke about bllod pressure control, anemia management, medications to avoid, and vitamin D and phosphorus control. Additionally, we spoke of the types of dialysis available and the options for renal replacement therapy when the time comes.
